Thousands turn up for memorial service

Messrs Shakes Zungu, Madiba Sithole, Smatch Ntlhanankoe and One Armando Gondas lives were remembered during the ceremony.
They died due to a seismic event.
Zungu (27) started working at Driefontein in 2005 as a general underground worker. He worked himself up to the position of operator grade 3 mono winch operator. He is survived by his mother.
Sithole (73) was a general underground worker in 1997 and held the position of a stoping machine operator during the time of his death.
He is survived by his wife, Nyameka, and three children.
Ntlhanakoe (28) started at Driefontein last year as a general underground worker.
Gonda (56) worked at Driefontein since 1985. At the time of his death he was a mono winch operator. He is survived by his wife, Moira.
Members from the department of minerals and energy, National Union of Mineworkers, Solidarity, UASA and the Inspectorate attended the service. Messrs Peter Turner, vice president of Driefontein, and Vishnu Pillay, head of SA operations, also showed their respect.
The management, unions and fellow employees wish to send their heartfelt condolences to their families. May the Lord give them strength in their time of need, the funeral letter read.
Pastor Viedge Gush gave a powerful sermon to the families.
Everyone must put God in control of their lives.
Co-workers, family members, members from the unions and management presented messages to the mourning members.
