Jesus rose from the dead!

After Jesus had risen from the dead he showed Himself to His followers and said This is what I told you while I was still with you: Everything must be fulfilled that is written about me in the Law of Moses, the Prophets and the Psalms, Luke 24:44. The fact is that there are at least ninety-four prophecies about Jesus covering Palm Sunday to Easter Day. We can take all these prophecies and rearrange them to make a Holy Week report as good as those of Matthew, Mark, Luke and John combined!
This gives our basis of faith in Jesus. Jesus went on to say The Christ will suffer and rise from the dead on the third day, and repentance and the forgiveness of sins will be preached in his name to all nations, Luke 24:46,47. We have one primary task. Jesus should be our most talked about topic. We should invite people to meet Him in person. Do we feel unable to do this? Jesus went on to say I am going to send you what my Father has promised: but stay in the city until you have been clothed with power from on high, Luke 24:49. We are not expected to do things in our own strength, wisdom and understanding. In John 14:16, Jesus said I will ask the Father, and He will give you another Counsellor to be with you forever, the Spirit of Truth. In John 14:16 he went on to say But the Counsellor, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you all things and will remind you of everything I have said to you, John 14:26. The Holy Spirit is our God given resource to help us overcome our inability to live for Jesus!
When you asked Jesus to be your saviour, you died with Christ! For you died, and your life is now hidden in Christ in God, Colossians 3:3. Since Jesus has risen from the dead, we are raised with Him. Paul put is so well when he wrote Since, then, you have been raised with Christ, set your hearts on things above, where Christ is seated at the right hand of God, Colossians 3:1.
Who said that Easter is boring? Who said that it is not relevant? Who said its just a story? Three places in Psalms and a verse in Hosea tell us that Jesus would rise on the third day, and He did! The rising of Jesus from the dead is the best-documented event in ancient history. Why is it so important? Because it sets us our goal of touching the lives of other people. It tells of the help that we get from the Holy Spirit to do that. It sets for us the goal of setting our hearts on heavenly things where Jesus sits on the throne where His Father is.
Prayer: Thank you, Lord, for Your Spirit that you sent me, and His work in my life. Amen.
