SEDIBENG. - Offenders languishing in Sedibeng correctional centres were given an opportunity to repent their old ways when the African Christian Evangelist (ACE) League paid them a visit recently.
The ACE League is a men's structure, which falls under the African Methodist Episcopal Church in Zone 14 Sebokeng. In an interview with Vaal Weekly, the league's Coordinator, Mako Makume says that this project is intended to strengthen offenders' belief in God. "We have been to Groenpunt already and now we are targeting other prisons for the same project," says Makume, who further says that the league is under the leadership of President David Muntu Kubheka.
Reading scriptures from the Holy Bible also gives the offenders a chance to relate their life stories. "We are giving them rehabilitation of a holy form and an opportunity to ask for forgiveness," concludes Makume. Next on the league's list is Johannesburg Correctional Centre.
