Skhosana, who cannot speak properly and has to press his throat before he can speak, was beaten by police officers one Sunday morning after they allegedly thought him to be drunk due to his speech problem. "I was accompanying my wife to her friend when these officers were patrolling and arrested people for being drunk. They confronted me, holding my hands as they asked me questions. I could not speak because I could not press my throat," says Skhosana. They forced me into the police van and one of the officers slammed me with the door. Then they left and my hand was broken," he continues. "I have pointed out the two officers who did this to me and I don't know why the case is taking so long," says Skhosana. He says that he has never been called to court and he says that the case was due this earlier this week, but he did not go because he was not kept up to date by the police.
