SEBOKENG. - "I want the police to do me a favour and bail this woman out," says the distraught father of a 15-year-old girl, who was allegedly abducted in Sebokeng and raped by six foreign men in Johannesburg recently.

The suspect for the abduction, a woman, who was arrested in her home in Zone 10 recently, made her first appearance at the Sebokeng magistrate?s court two weeks ago. Staying true to their promise, youths came out in numbers as a form of support for the victim. The suspect's name was brandished among strong messages written boldly on placards. The young crowd marched from the Zone 11 Post Office all the way to the Sebokeng magistrate's court.

"We want justice, criminals deserve a life sentence," says one of the young girls who participated in the march.

Still wearing their school uniforms, the youth made their stance in this case very clear - the suspect should not be released because of her alleged horrible crime. One placard read, "Monke o mo ise diseleng tsa banna, a utlwe ntho eo a e entseng ho ngwana" ("Take her to the male cells so she can feel what she had done to that child"). "We are getting better everyday. The child started school recently and is undergoing counselling," says the victim's father. Sebokeng SAPS Spokesperson, Superintendent Maria Mazibuko, says that the suspect is still in custody and will make her next court appearance on September 18.
