BOPHELONG. - A Bophelong businessman was shot in the abdomen after a struggle with robbers at his house recently.
According to Archibald Mahlatsi of "Archie's Soft Drinks and Liquor", the thugs entered his house at around 05:00 in the morning and approached his wife who was doing laundry at the time.
Mahlatsi, lucky to be alive, relates his story to Vaal Weekly, "The men confronted my wife in the morning and pushed her. I heard her screams, so I went to investigate and found two suspects in the house. One pointed a firearm at me. As I tried to wrestle for it, a shot went off and hit me in the stomach. After that they ran and scaled the wall without taking anything. I do not know what their motive was - either to kill me or rob me".
"Police are investigating and I have given all the details to them. What I wish to see from now on is the law taking its course and the perpetrators behind bars. My family is terrorised by this experience," he adds.
Police spokesperson, Inspector Kinnie Steyn says that no suspects have been arrested and police are investigating a case of attempted murder.
