Bongani's bizarre death haunts community
By Mduduzi Mathebula

SEBOKENG. - The alleged poisoning and eventual death of young Bongani Tsotetsi is still a mystery to both the Zone 7 community and the rivalling stokvel members accused by the boy's mother, Manana Tsotetsi, of being responsible for her son's death alike.

Suspicions are that Bangani, who was playing with his friend at a neighbour's house just before his death, consumed rat-poison commonly known as Mafinita. This incident has turned the well being within the community sour.

Ennie Makobe, member of the accused "stokvel murderers", says that after the ordeal her sister's child, who was playing with Bangani just before he passed away, could not go to school, because she was being mocked by her schoolmates as being a suspect in Bongani's death. "She is just five-years-old. This has traumatised the child. My elder sister later went to the school to reach an agreement and luckily my niece can now go back. I still want to know what the post-mortem says is the reason of Bongani's death," says Mokebe.

When Vaal Weekly contacted Manana, she seemingly did not know what the cause of her child's death is and referred us to Bongani's other relatives. One of Bongani's aunts says again the post-mortem stated in Afrikaans that the boy died of "verstikking", which means that the child died of suffocation.
