    Members of local clubs do very well at Mamre and Napier

    ROAD athletes from Tygerberg clubs were among the top finishers in a 15 km event and a half-marathon in which they took part at Mamre and Napier.

    At Mamre Riaan Wildskut (East, 6th in 51:59) and Peter Bunn (Edgem, 13th and 3rd master (40+) in 56:44) were both among the top 15 across the line. Muhammad Kriel (Ned) won the division for master (50+) men in 58:47.

    Fourth (and 1st master (40+) in 61:49) in the women’s race was Mariëtte Esterhuyse (Tyg/NL), with Sandra van Graan (Edgem) 6th (and 2nd master (40+) in 65:37 and Glenda Werth (Ned) 9th in 69:43.

    Cathy Taylor (Dur) won the division for master (60+) women in 86:44.

    In the Patatfees half-marathon at Napier Thys Bouwer (Sanlam (10th and 2nd master (50+) in 102:24), Hennie Malan (Tyg/NL, 13th and 2nd master (50+) in 106:32) and his club mate Monty Montgomery (17th and 3rd master (40+) in 109:34) were the Tygerberg’s top performers in the men’s division.

    Mike Taylor (Tyg/NL) filled 3rd spot in 117:36 in the division for master (60+) men.

    The women’s open division, as well as the division for masters (40+), was won in 91:31 by Sheryl de Lange of Nedbank.

    Marietha Herbert (Bell, 9th in 116:38) was the winner of the division for master (60+) women.

    Petra King (Sanlam, 119:09) walked off with the prize for master (50+) women.
