    More about those two

I WOULD like to inform you that doing outreach work amongst street people I have learnt there are cases, as in the situation, ‘‘Beggar did not quite look the part’’ (TB, 16July), as to why they are clean and neatly dressed.

They are amongst those that do want to be helped. Donations as in clothes, shoes, blankets ect. are given to these people and shavers are available at R10 per person at certain places in these areas.

About the bicycles: These are people that look after and hold onto the things they have.

They are also children of the living God – that need people like us to reach out and be of help to them.

There are people in their situation, that when they apply for work, they are unsuccessful, because they do not have a residential address. So please, do not judge people in the way you presume them to be.

Rather reach out. Speak to them and find out where what went wrong. They are willing to work, but reasons above make them unsuccessful.

Rather pray for their situation to be bettered than to judge them in the way you do.

There are those that we came into contact with, that are helped, but do not want to better their situation.

In this case the beggars – as you call them – efforts to better themselves are made impossible as too many people, like you, judge, but do not know how degrading it must be to beg to survive.

Try really knowing the needs of those in circumstances as these and may God touch your heart to be able to see them through His eyes.

Their shades, by the way, are spectacles worn for better vision, not “Ray-bans”.

Be cautions in future how and what you think and say.

    LULU
