WE all follow certain beliefs and convictions. Many of us proclaim to follow Christ. Between our public profession of faith and our private resolve, however, there often is a major difference.
Circumstances and emotions often influence our level of enthusiasm resulting in a lack of motivation. It is all a matter of courage. Someone once said: “Any coward can praise Christ, but it takes a courageous man to follow Him.”
Following Jesus comes with a price. It means surrendering your whole life to Him, allowing Him to influence your thoughts, desires and decisions. In Matt 16:24-26 Jesus unequivocally states that following Him means submitting the totality of our lives to his will and guidance.
A wholesome life is only possible through submission to his will. Enjoying a successful life is only achieved by adhering to his principles. In Romans 12:1 Paul makes the following statement: “Offer yourselves as a living sacrifice to God, dedicated to his service and pleasing to him. This is the true worship that you should offer.”
Remember that courage is esteemed the first of human qualities because it is the quality which guarantees all others. Take up the challenge and follow Jesus courageously.
