    Roaders make it six out of ten in age categories

    SUPERB performances by Tygerberg road athletes in last Wednesday evening’s Prima Hi-Q race over 10 km in Bellville enabled them to fill top positions in no fewer than six of the ten age categories. Close to 700 runners lined up in cool, breezy weather for the event, hosted by the Bellville club.

    Winner of of the open women’s category was Alae Brand of Adidas. The young medical student crossed the line in 37:57.

    Sheryl de Lange (Ned, 3rd overall in 40:55) won the division for master (40+) women, while Marietha Herbert (Bell) earned the laurels in 50:02 in the division for master (60+) women.

    Another brilliant effort by Vladimir Kotov, who clocked a time of 32:48, enabled the Mr Price star to fill 7th overall spot and win the prize for master (50+) athletes in the men’s race.

    Johnny Persents (Adid) repeated his success of last year by once again winning the division for master (40+) men, this time in 34:16. Willie van Wyk (Brack) walked of with the winner’s prize in the division for master (60+) men after completing the fast, level course in 43:28.

    Robbie Lindsay (Ned, masters 50+ in 38:13), Peter Donald (W.Coast, masters 60+ in 45:43), Joanne Wynne (Dur, masters 40+ in 43:55), Tilda Krugmann (W.Coast, masters 50+ in 46:06) and Marianne Nelson (Dur, masters 60+) were the runners-up in their respective age categories.
