    Lusaseni wins yet again

    TOM Lusaseni, the promising young road athlete of the Celtic Harrier club, followed up his excellent win of the previous Saturday in the 12 km senior men’s cross-country event in the Koeberg Nature Reserve with another fine victory, this time in the Eerste River Club’s annual INCA road race of last Saturday morning.

    The 20-year-old athlete covered the 15 km return course between Eerste River and Firgrove in 45:44 to edge out runner-up Tsungai Mwanengeni of Mr Price (2nd in 45:56) by 12 seconds.

    Another nine athletes from local clubs managed to secure places among the top 20 finishers.

    They are Siyabulela Qondiso (VOB, 5th in 47:36), Zolani Bhitane (Ned, 7th in 48:34), the Adidas duo of Wanda Roro (8th and 2nd junior in 48:37) and Masixole Bongani Peza (11th in 50:04),

    Charles Phokane (Ind, 12th in 50:24), Nicholas Rupanga (Celt, 13th in 50:26), Luvuyo Mlungu (VOB, 15th in 50:56), Anele Funindawo (Metrop, 16th in 51:18) and Professor Khwatane (VOB, 17th in 51:30).

    Roro and Peza were members of the winning Adidas men’s team.

    In the women’s race Busisiwe Matiwane (Celt) filled 10th spot in 63:07, with Khulukazi Lupondo (RCS Gug) 16th (and 2nd junior) in 65:15. Matiwane was also a member of the winning Celtics women’s team.
