Vandals damaged signs on the newly launched Vermont-Onrus-Sandbaai coastal path (VOS) over the weekend and stole some of the signs.
A shocked Nelmarie Theron from the VOS committee urges members of the public to report acts of vandalism.
We would like to ask parents who notice these signs in their childrens' rooms to give them back to the committee. This is really a big loss for everybody working very hard to establish something of value for the community.
Theron said it is tragic that this kind of thing always seems to happen during holiday times. We have had problems when the path's cement was still wet with vandals leaving foot and hand marks in the cement or writing graffiti and had to go back at night to repair the damage.
