    Karate team does well


    The South African JKA Karate nationals were held recently and were staged over three days as a result of the large number of entries.

    The Saturday was for finalists and also staged the international event with countries from Swaziland, Botswana, Germany and Australia competing. Sensei Keith Geyer who was the Springbok captain for more than ten years and now the Australian coach brought out a strong team and managed to clinch the international event in the finals against South Africa.

    SA JKA Hermanus did extremely well and returned home with 26 medals of which six were gold. The gold medalists and SA JKA division champions were Dillan Matinka (Kata & Kumite), Chloe Knott (Kata & Kumite), Grant Metcalf (Kumite), Robyn Ward (Kumite).
