The sixth prestigious Whale Festival Classic Charity Golf Day at the Arabella Golf Course will be held on Friday 26 September.
The day will be sponsored by PSG Konsult.
As Wednesday 24 September is a public holiday and is followed by the September school holidays, this is an ideal opportunity to make a long weekend of it and make the most of the festivities.
The 4-ball stableford alliance (2 scores to count) competition is limited to only 30 teams and tee-off times will start from 11:30. Registration fee per 4-ball includes green fees, golf carts fitted with GPS systems, golf shirts, goodie bags, great wet holes, side competitions, half way house and prize giving refreshments and generous prizes for the taking. Robin Jackman will join the field and MC the evening so players are sure to hear a few inside stories after the cricket tests and ODIs against England.
The Whale Festival Classic is the main charity fund raiser of the festival and to date over R100 000 in sports equipment has been donated to schools in the Overstrand. This year funds raised from the PSG Konsult Whale Festival Classic will go to HIV and AIDS projects under the auspices of Hermanus Child Welfare.
To add to the spirit of giving, players and supporters are requested to please bring along an old golf shirt or any other unused golfing attire which may be collecting dust and could be useful to the needy. Anyone who may not be playing, but is willing to donate such equipment is requested to drop off goods at the Whale Festival office (adjacent to ABSA). All golfing donations collected will be distributed to development golf organisations in the Overstrand. Who knows, this could be assisting the next Tiger or Ernie!
This event has been over-subscribed for the past four years, so book early.
Come and be part of this great golf day, play on one of the country's top courses and support the Overstrand communities. You are sure to go home with your arms full of prizes and give-aways. For entry forms or more information, contact images@hermanus.co.za or 083 650 4206.
