In response to JCN Kotzé's “For the privileged few” (HT 16/05). All of us are aware that the mayoress was able to organise funding for a public health clinic in Zwelihle a while ago. It therefore seems reasonable that the mayor, who is indeed a chosen representative of the community at large and not just a certain political party, could be directed to the real needs of the community regarding the provincial hospital, besides the rates-enriching private hospital. I have done my time and I do applaud all the other noble volunteers for doing theirs. Hermanus Hospital is indeed unique and has in the past been the rare exception. Let's not lose sight of this high standard despite lack of funding.
