Help for bipolar disorder sufferers
Bipolar disorder (BD) is a debilitating disease that affects around 1 in 100 people, as well as their friends and families. If your life feels like a roller-coaster ride with violent mood swings, or you suffer from depression, pessimism, lack of concentration, energy and appetite, or you feel inexplicably depressed or even suicidal, you may have BD.
But don't despair.
The South African Depression and Anxiety Group says the condition is treatable. They will be in Hermanus next week to tell you how to conquer the ups and downs of being bipolar.
On Friday, 26 May psychiatrist Dirk Kotzé will give a presentation on BD at 18:00 at the Etienne Rousseau hall in Swallow Lane, Hermanus (next to the Grobbelaar hall) and will answer any questions from the audience. He will also discuss self-help ideas that could assist BD sufferers or their loved ones. For more information phone (028) 313-0065, 312-4517 or 313-2031.
