A cycad has mysteriously appeared in the Fernkloof Nature Reserve garden. We suspect that this is the same cycad that was reported stolen from the Joy Diemont Memorial Garden in my letter last week. We intend to perform DNA tests to confirm that this is indeed the same plant. It has been decided to donate the remaining cycad in the Joy Diemont Memorial Garden to Fernkloof for safekeeping. Should the thief make any effort to remove or destroy the stolen cycad, his problems will only be multiplied. Many thanks to the Hermanus Times for publishing my letter and appealing to the conscience of the cycad thief ? the crime was solved within 24 hours of the letter being published. Crime does not pay. PS: Who dug up all the arum lilies between Kwaaiwater and the Mossel River?
