    Mixed results in 20/20 action
    Derek Harvey

THE Fish Hoek 1st X1 played in the inaugural WPCA 20/20 competition at Edgemead on Saturday, losing one match and winning the next.

They were beaten by Milnerton due to uncertainty over how to tackle the format, but went on to beat Police in the second game of the day.

Scores: FHCC 125 in 17.3 overs (Derek Pedersen 32). Milnerton 126. Result: lost (FHCC 1 point).

In the afternoon game, Fish Hoek, faring better, scored 158/8 (Holman 34, Mclellan 30, Hearne 28 and Lyons 22). Police could only manage 139, with Graham Conway taking 4/20, earning Fish Hoek 5 points for the win. The club's 2nd X1 had the better of Milnerton in their 2-day game (away).

Steve Brandt and Jared Aiken got three wickets apiece and Matt Lever two, to roll Milnerton for a lowly 88. In reply, Fish Hoek scored a credible 211/5 dec. with Dennis Bowditch 41, Matt Lever 39 and Brendon Wainright 30 in the runs.

The Thirds scored 158/9, with most of the team contributing to the game against Somerset West, who replied with 216 all out. Andre Marais got the breakthrough and then cleaned up the tail to end with an excellent 5/53. He was ably assisted by Hansie Linde and Rob Page, with two each.

    The match continues next week.
