A hat trick for Gary Bruce
    Derek Harvey

Gary Bruce, bowling superbly, took 5/12 in 10 overs, including a hat trick, for the Fish Hoek 3rd XI against United on Saturday.

The 1st XI played in the regional leg of the new 20/20 competition. They comfortably beat Ocean View in their local derby in what proved to be a most enjoyable day and it was good to see the camaraderie between the two sides. The tournament continues at Silverglade on Tuesday, 21 March, with Fish Hoek playing Claremont and Alma vs Edgemead.

Scores: Fish Hoek 158/8. Nick Hearne 49, Derek Pedersen 28. Manuel 3/26. Ocean View 93/9. Fish Hoek won by 65 runs. The 2nd XI ended the day with mixed results in what is the last league game of the season. Batting first against a loaded UWC side, they scored a creditable 208/7, thanks to a solid 60 from Craig Allen and 43 from Dennis Bowditch. UWC replied with 240 for 6, with Fish Hoek letting it slip but clawing back towards the end. The match continues on Tuesday.

Thanks to some fine bowling and the hat trick from Gary Bruce and hostile overs from Richard Wood (2/33), the Thirds were nicely placed at close. After rolling United for 100, Fish Hoek High School's Brian Fobien scored an excellent 96 in his first league game. Batting with great confidence, Fobien shared in a fine 152 run opening partnership with Brian Norbury, who scored 56. Fish Hoek scored 206/2.
