Exhilaration follows Cape Point Race
OUR DIANNE, skippered by Billy Leisegang, took top honours in the annual Pennypinchers Cape Point Race last weekend, followed by Sunstone and Pennypinchers Beluga in second and third place respectively.
Once the yachts had rounded Cape Point, they had the opportunity of showing their colours and flying their downwind spinnakers. From a spectators' point of view, the tourists along the coastline from Smitswinkel Bay to Simon's Town were treated to some spectacular Kodak moments, with the fleet passing close to shore.
The buzz in the False Bay Club House after the fleet had finished was one of exhilaration and euphoria as many of the competitors had sailed round "the fairest Cape of them all" for the first time.
