Fish Hoek Cricket Club and local schools in the area will certainly benefit from new and exci?ting initiatives taking place this season.
The All Rounder Cricket Academy, Cape Active, Chris Lyons and Playball will all be active in the Valley and will be making use of the club's facilities as well as coaching at various schools.
Wayne Hendricks of All Rounder has been appointed coach of the club's 1st XI.
Wayne is a passionate and dedicated coach who has played top club cricket and represented Eastern Province at indoor cricket.
As the name suggests, All Rounder will provide expertise for all age groups and for individuals and squads.
Wayne has been appointed both Bakers and Zonal representative for our area. Cape Active is headed by Helen and Roger Spengler.
Roger is a third generation member of Fish Hoek Cricket Club and they will be catering for all sports. They will be reviving ladies cricket for the club and will be involved in junior development. Chris Lyons is a top performer for the club and is a sports officer for local schools.
He has conducted successful coaching sessions at the club for some years but is now on his own. Playball, run by Helen Davies, offers an unique concept which integrates the moral and ethical side of cricket with the coaching of the game.
These aspects are fast disappearing from modern cricket, as witnessed recently in the test arena. The Fish Hoek Cricket Club will be providing use of facilities and every assistance they might need.
These exciting initiatives are indeed good news for local sport and the benefits of their efforts should soon become apparent.
