STRAND apartment complex Rialto Bay, a development currently being erected in Beach Road, has been named among the winners of the European Property Awards.

The awards, presented in association with CNBC Television and SIMA for 2008, were revealed earlier this month. The awards dinner is to be held in London on September 27.

LKC Investment Holdings, co-developer of the Rialto Bay, was named winner of the Best Apartment category.

Its partner in the development is Invest Afrique. A company press release said the award demonstrates "that SA can not only compete but also triumph within the highly competitive arena".

Having been given this recommendation by its peers, the company is now entitled to display the Property Awards' logo.

Chaired by Eric Pickles, British Shadow Secretary of State, this year's judges included among others, the editor-in-chief of International Homes magazine; the chief executive of the National Association of Estate Agents; a presenter of Channel 4's Location and Relocation TV shows; the chief executive of the UK's National House Building Council; a past president of the UK's National Association of Estate Agents; and, the chairman of the British Interior Design Association.
