The Theatre Benevolent Fund (TBF) of South Africa recently appointed Roz van der Vyver, Planning Manager at the Baxter Theatre Centre, as its Western Cape representative.

She is planning a fundraiser for next Saturday, November 24 at 18:00, with a special performance of the popular show The Chilli Boy in the Baxter Sanlam Studio, followed by a cheese and wine. Tickets are R100 and the proceeds go towards much-needed funds to aid theatre-makers. Founded in the early 60?s by PPB Breytenbach (Oom Brytie, as he was fondly known), the Fund was started when an actor was diagnosed with cancer and needed financial assistance at the time. The main objective of the TBF is to offer financial relief to bona-fide professional members in the entertainment industry and their dependants, in appropriate circumstances and who find themselves in distressed circumstances by reason of ill health, or any other genuine misfortune.
