    Summer season in full swing

    The summer Symphony Season of the Cape Philharmonic Orchestra?s concert on Thursday, February 14 will feature the violinist Bin Huang who will be playing Sibelius' Violin Concerto in D minor. The rest of the programme consists of Liadov's From the Apocalypse and Shostakovich's Symphony No. 12.

    On Thursday, February 21 (City Hall), Saturday, February 23 (Oude Libertas Amphitheatre) and Sunday, February 24 (NAC Auditorium) the CPO with Pretty Yende (soprano), Musawenkosi Ngqungwana (baritone) and the New Apostolic Church Choir perform Brahms' Ein deutsches Requiem. In addition to this major choral work, the programme also includes Schubert's Symphony No. 8 (Unfinished Symphony).

    The season concludes on February 28 in the City Hall with soloists Cara Hesse and Laura Pauna (the piano duo who have been playing together for seven years and gained praise during their international tours) and organist Zorada Temmingh. The programme consists of Tchaikovsky's Francesca da Rimini, Bruch's Concerto for Two Pianos and Saint-Saëns' Symphony No. 3 in C minor (Organ Symphony).
