THE current Sunset Concert Series at the Helderberg Nature Reserve will end on a high note on Sunday March 16 when Gerald Clark, front man of Delta Blue, will sing the Blues.
This will be his second appearance at the reserve.
Last year Gerald appeared as a guest artist with local band, Pretzel Logic. That experience was so enjoyed by both public and performer, that he's now back to do a whole concert. Joining him will be Tim Rankin on the drums and Schalk van der Merwe on the bass. Internationally they were hugely popular in both London and Windhoek, and at the STRAB festival in Mozambique. He has also performed with the legendary Shaun Phillips. His newest project, Sweepslag, is a masterpiece of acoustic blues, folk, ballads and love songs in Afrikaans. His solo act consists of original footstompin blues and beautiful soulful tunes. "The Friends of the Helderberg Reserve are enormously pleased to be able to presented this talented performer and encourage young and old to join them for the final concert in this series," says Mervyn Davidson. "We would also like to take this opportunity to thank all our patrons for their attendance at what is becoming an increasingly popular series. We look forward to seeing you all again next time! Proceeds from the concerts all go towards running the Environmental Education Centre, which brings thousands of young people to the reserve annually."
Join the Friends this Sunday at 17:30. Tickets will be on sale at the gate from 15:00 and cost R25 for adults and R5 for scholars. Bring along your picnic, blanket and chairs. Phone the Info Centre on (021) 851-4060 for more information.
