Raiders: Rasputin's Rectangle, the eighteenth in the very popular Raiders series by Nicholas Ellenbogen from Theatre for Africa-fame, takes to the stage at the Baxter Sanlam Studio from March 26 to April 19, at 20:15 nightly. At last the award-winning father and son duo Nicholas and Luke Ellenbogen appear in a show together. Nicholas received the Fleur du Cap Best Supporting Actor award for his performance as Sir Toby Belch in Twelfth Night last year. He is the founder member of Theatre for Africa which has performed all over the world and has himself produced over 140 works for the stage. Luke has received three Fleur du Cap nominations and won the Best Lighting Design award for Kissed by Brel. For 18 years Raiders remained the top show on the Fringe at the Grahamstown Festival, delighting audiences with its energetic and hilarious brand of humour. At a time when White and Red Russians were at each other hammer and tongs, the famous Bolshy Cossinak Company is at its peak. Lead dancer Vodakatini Bloodimara is wowing audiences across the world. While touring the diamond fields of South Africa, she falls in love with the inventor, Dieter Boepenaar. Enter into this Eastern Cape scene Boytjie Eisenberg, a smous (played by Nicholas), and his nephew, Dr Jacob Eisenberg (Luke). Many of the Jews who came from Russia helped to build the platteland.
