Unity and jubilee at women's conference
By Zacharia Nale

VANDERBIJLPARK. - Women from all walks of life gathered at the Vaal University Of Technology (VUT) to celebrate the Women's Month on Saturday.

This extravagant function was organised by G-Mola Consulting in partnership with the Sedibeng District Municipality, VUT, Ladies Empowerment Organisation (LEO) and Vaal Weekly.

Some of the a-lists who graced this occasion include Deputy Minister of Trade and Industry Elizabeth Thabethe, Sedibeng District Municipality Speaker Kedibone Mogotsi, VUT Vice Chancellor Irene Moutlana, LEO President Matawana Moleleki and Vaal Weekly Editor Nthabiseng Nhlapo, who was hostess of the function with VUT Manager of Corporate Affairs, Lucia Mokotsi.

This informative occasion saw young and old unite for the betterment of women in this country. Thabethe, who was the keynote speaker of the day, says that women should stop being dependent. Mogotsi, who was also a speaker, encourages women to be at the forefront and to not be intimidated.

Some of the key issues discussed during the conference were to create awareness for women on how to access funds for their businesses and also the challenges facing women in business in South Africa. There was a panel of discussion where some resolutions were taken.

G-Mola Consulting President, Mpho Sello, who is also the event organiser, told Vaal Weekly that he is impressed. "We are looking forward to making it bigger and better next year. This is one opportunity that Sedibeng women should not miss out on, because we want to uplift the lives of ordinary women. I want to thank all the cooperatives who honoured our invitation and to our partners we say that we are looking forward to building long term relationships," says Sello. There were also give-aways for all the women who attended the occasion and some also won prizes courtesy of Vaal Weekly.

* Meanwhile, Vaal Weekly Editor Nthabiseng Nhlapo also congratulates all the women who attended the occasion. She says that it was very encouraging to see young and old women networking. "We as Vaal Weekly are grateful for the opportunity that G-Mola Consultants have granted us, by allowing us to be part of this historical event," she says.
