THE formation of the Youth Commissions has not yielded any tangible results in advancing the lives of the youth.
The recent announcement about the high rate of university dropouts and the involvement of youth in criminal acts is a rallying cry that these YCs must be disbanded for their failure to come up with programmes that advance the lives of our struggling young people.
We call upon the President Thabo Mbeki to disband these commissions, as they are the extension of the ANC’s dynasty in all government spheres.
We demand that a Youth Ministry that will solely dedicate its energies in de?veloping the youth of South Africa be created so that the monies that are wasted by Umsobomvu and Youth Commissions are collectively used to help our young people to play a role in all aspects of de?velopment.
We also need to guard against political patronage in the formation of the ministry so that competent people can be appointed to deliver on their mandate.
