The seven-year old boy that was found with stab wounds, bleeding and bruised in a bush in Church Street, Hawston is still in Tygerberg hospital, but is doing very well.
The little boy, who had allegedly been sodomised, molested and beaten up by an 11-year old boy, is even going to a school at the hospital while he is undergoing therapy aided by social workers. He might be returning home this weekend after he sees a psychologist.
The public, friends and family have been wonderful towards the boy and his mother and he has received many gifts like a playstation and television, fruit baskets, sweets and toys to keep himself busy.
A 17-year old suspect was arrested last Wednesday but was released after the evidence against him was found insufficient.
Information about the sodomy only came to light after the first court hearing last Monday and the suspect was released into the care of his parents.
The following Wednesday magistrate Preggy Govender ordered that the suspect should be re-arrested and brought to court for another hearing. He was then re-arrested and taken to a place of safety for the duration of the investigation.
The suspect appeared in the Hermanus magistrate court on Wednesday.
