The first strong South-Easter of the summer, which is predicted to peak at near gale force tomorrow, bringing up waves in excess of three metres in False Bay before subsiding on Thursday, has broken a six week spell of outstanding surf on the Atlantic coast of the Peninsula.

THE Fish Hoek Tennis Club was happy with the enthusiastic turnout for their open day. Most encouraging was the number of youngsters, among whom were many young girls who seem to have abandoned tennis nowadays.

CLOVELLY Country Club's young golfers did well in the opening round of the WPGU Winter League series, played at the Steenberg course, to place the club in fifth position in the 21-club competition. Clovelly, on 224 gross, finished one point behind fourth-placed Royal Cape A (223) and one point ahead of neighbours Westlake (225). Simon's Town's team ended in 19th position with a gross score of 236.
