A senior government leader says legalising the rhino horn trade could help reduce the high rates of rhino poaching. Deputy Minister in the Presidency Obed Bapela has visited the North West province to discuss this national crisis with game reserve staff and others. This year alone, over 600 rhinos have been poached in South Africa, including 77 in North West. Bapela says legalising the trade could result in rhinos being dehorned, without being killed.
