Absa online banking back on track

2012-05-25 18:14
Cape Town – Absa bank’s online and mobile problems have been solved.

Earlier on Friday hundreds of users were left furious as Absa bank’s online and mobile systems failed to work, taking to social media forums to voice their concerns.

"The problem has been rectified and service has been restored across Absa’s online and mobile banking channels," the bank told News24.

Absa also extended the cut-off time for payments to 18:00 to accommodate those affected.

"The bank sincerely apologises for any inconvenience caused," Absa added.

Users had taken to Twitter and other social media forums to voice their concerns.

PaulRotherhamZA tweeted, "Annoying to see #ABSA online banking site appears to have been down most of the day. Constantly hanging and telling me "technical error"!”

"Would like to say extremely nasty things about #Absa which include words like bankruptcy, incompetence and a load of swear words #paydayfail," @Chriscaptivate tweeted

Absa rolled out an upgrade to its online banking platform earlier this week.

The ageing internet banking platform was in need of an upgrade and Absa rebuilt the platform to be more user friendly, the bank said.
