Beijing - The Internet Society of China, eBay, Microsoft, America Online Inc and Yahoo! Inc on Thursday agreed to collaborate in the fight against internet spam.
The memorandum of understanding, which was announced at the China Internet Conference 2004, outlines areas of technological co-operation for fighting unwanted e-mails and online fraud.
But the document doesn't create legally binding obligations among the parties, a statement issued by the alliance says.
The global partnership is the first of its kind in China, where unsolicited and fraudulent e-mails are a growing problem.
The Internet Society of China is an organisation comprised of the country's major telecommunication companies, internet service providers and other internet-related institutions.
