More birds fall from sky in US

2011-01-04 21:48

Washington - The second unexplained mass bird death within a week has been discovered in the southern United States, this time in the state of Louisiana, officials said on Tuesday.

The latest incident affected about 500 birds which were discovered dead in Pointe Coupee Parish, said Olivia Watkins of the Louisiana department of wildlife and fisheries.

Watkins said an investigation was underway into the cause of the deaths, which occurred just a few days after thousands of birds were discovered dead in neighbouring Arkansas.

"We sent samples to a lab in Missouri and are waiting to get some results," she said.

Nancy Ledbetter at the Arkansas game & fish commission said officials in that state were awaiting test results to find the cause of death of as many as 5 000 blackbirds in the small town of Beebe as well as deaths of 80 000 to 100 000 fish found floating in the Arkansas River about 160km away.

"We still don't believe the (fish and bird deaths) are related," she said.

As to the incident in Louisiana, she said "We don't expect that to be related either."

Officials said earlier that some type of disturbance - possibly fireworks on New Year's Eve - might have provoked the birds to take flight in the dark.

Because blackbirds have poor night vision they may have died after bumping into houses, trees and other birds in their fright.

Arkansas officials said preliminary testing showed no signs of disease in the dead birds and that they died of "acute physical trauma".

Very weird! and a little too coincidental....??

      John - 2011-01-05 00:09

For 5000 birds to "bump" into each other is a little more than strange. In a previous article they said it had happened before, but 5000!!! that is an enormous number of mis-sighted birds.

      Kyle_logan - 2011-01-05 07:43

@John, they said 500 not 5000, but still it is alittle starnge.

      Phoenix - 2011-01-05 07:58

I definitely agree. Too coincidental. But many seem to forget how drastically weather patterns have been changing. There is definitively a large amount of truth to the global warming and the larger amount of fresh water being dumped into the oceans from the polar ice caps. This is messing with the North Atlantic currents. If u take both the Global warming into account, and the fact that we are being hit by a larger amount of radiation from the sun, and then add to that the delicate balance of of the North Atlantic current. What do u think is causing these strange phenomenon? I have worked out a few things that could be causing it. But typically, people like myself are ignored. I also don't believe it is only one thing causing the problem. There are a number of things happening, working hand in hand (possibly best explanation) that is causing this all together. It is not just birds randomly flying into each other because they are blind at night. There is more to it than that. Even magnetic fields are changing and are being disrupted all over. Think about it.

      Lostsunset - 2011-01-05 08:14

Have you seen the movie 'The Crazies'? where a plane filled with a Bio weapon crashed in the river near a small town in America. Thats what this reminds me of.

      seri_us - 2011-01-05 08:16

500 birds in Pointe Coupee Parish and another 5000 in Beebe ....

      Dan - 2011-01-05 09:04

@ Phoenix. Please don't tell me you are suggesting some kind of "end of the world bullsh1t". Much weirder natural "disasters" or incidents happened before and will hapen in future. At least some church groups (if you can even call them churches) now have something new to use while exploiting their members and filling them will fear. Yes, excellent way to cash in a bit, in America some "church" groups might even now decide to kill themselves as they have received the "sign".

      Phoenix - 2011-01-05 09:21

@ Dan. No Dan. I am not talking about the end of the world dewd. I am talking about physical things that are happening. If it were the end of the world discussion, then this would have to happen on astronomical scale, and then bible versus would come out as well. I am merely talking about the actual science, the real things happening. But then again, there are many of u that don't believe science can prove anything. Because all u believe in is yourself and what u see. Nothing more. I am talking about what is in actual fact happening, and what science is currently showing and proving. Nothing more. No end of the world stuff. If it gets to that, well, yeah, then we all in the shite. No matter what we say.

      Phoenix - 2011-01-05 09:25

@Dan. The real things happening, are the magnetic fields that are changing, maybe a little more than they used to, but nothing that will affect us. Animals on the other hands sense it way before we ever will. The Solar radiation hitting earth now is much higher than it ever was. There are a number of climatic changes that have occurred, and by that a number of additional tropical like storms and heats waves. I am purely speaking about the real physical things happening, and the science behind it.

  • birdman - 2011-01-05 01:16

It's like a scenario from a horror movie, but only it's real! Poison gas discharge into the atmosphere (explosions that were heard) can account for the birds dying. (Canaries were used in mines to detect low levels of methane - they would die before the miners could even smell it!) The fallout into the rivers could account for the fish - poison depleting oxygen levels in the water, or just plain death by poison? Something is really "fishy" here. I bet that they cover this thing up and it will become another Roswell!

If they have "bumped" into houses or something, surely there will be signs of broken neck's or bones or something? People will believe anything as long as it's not impacting on them. There is many poison that cannot be traced. They may want to fly our minister from KZN to the US to investigate the posibility of LIGHTNING there. Who knows!!!!

      freeflyshannon - 2011-01-05 09:43

We right now are pretty confident that the trauma is what caused the die-off," said state veterinarian George Badley. A local resident reported hearing about 20 loud booms Saturday night - which could have been fireworks or a cannon to get rid of nuisance birds - and saw a huge flock of frantic birds when he went outside. "He could hear the blackbirds fluttering around - he could hear their wings and he could hear them hitting into things," Badley said. Blackbirds have poor night vision and they were likely killed because they banged into houses and trees in their fright.

  • Eric Buirman - 2011-01-05 09:31

It's the damn robot aliens!! But seriously. Birds dont fly at night if they get a fright. They just cower down in a corner. I have grown up with racing pigeons and various other birds and they all react the same way. We catch the birds in the dark with a torch to catch them more easily. So if they had a fright by fireworks, why isn't there any other mass bird deaths where other firework displays were all over the country or world? There is something not being said here!

      Phoenix - 2011-01-05 09:50

  • omcdermott - 2011-01-05 10:48

I made a comment on the initial thread - Polar Shift. Birds have an internal compass - The Earth's Poles are literally shifting. Do the maths. Someone mentioned that my theory was completely flawed due to the isolation of the incident - But this is happening globally.

      Phoenix - 2011-01-05 11:02

I also mentioned that in an earlier thread. The magnetic fields are also weakening, and there is far more radiation coming through the Magnetosphere than before. But alas omsdermott, no one is heeding what is being said. A few have said we are talking rubbish because we are speaking of the end of the world. We are more just pointing out what is happening, the others can think what they wish. As long as they don't deny the fact that we can then say, we told you so, when that day arrives. LOL.

This is the major sign Christians look at. Israel is Gods time piece. What He said would happen has happened and the rest will also be done.

Hi Frank, It's not just Christians. In fact you Christians have plagiarised most of your prophecy from religions that have existed well prior to Christianity. Done purely to scare the c***p out of hapless parishioners and making them contribute generously from their wallets to have their souls saved from the fiery pits of hell..... What a load of b*****ks!

Maybe you should check again Christianity Came from as far back as Abraham And Adam and Eve. Salvation By faith Not by works Trust in God rather than man

If they are christians in churches then there is no fear. Foolish man, If you are saved you have no reason to fear any of this that is happening but rather the world should fear God. Because if all the prophecies come to pass then surely There is a God and one should consider that.
