Cat survives 2 euthanasia attempts

2012-01-04 22:01

West Valley City, Utah - A stray cat that survived two trips to a Utah animal shelter's gas chamber now has a new home.

Officials at West Valley City's animal shelter in Utah say the cat named Andrea hadn't been adopted for 30 days when shelter officials tried to put her to death in October. She survived, so they gassed her again.

Shelter officials presumed she was dead when they put her in a plastic bag in a cooler, but she was later found alive.

The Salt Lake Tribune reports the cat has since been adopted and shelter officials are investigating why the gassing failed.

Typical out dated systems of putting animals down. in South Africa one small injection into the vein on the leg is virtually instantaneos Death. Unfortuantely I have had to have some of my pets put down due to age.

Only 30 days to find a home, what chance do these poor animals stand particularly while everyone still rushes to unethical petshops/breeders for their designer doggies and cats.

How can they gas the poor animals? WTF????

Absolutely cruel to gas animals. Didnt know that the US is still so far behind on technology.
