Chile twins in critical condition
Santiago - Doctors in Chile say one of the conjoined twins who were separated in a 20-hour operation is in critical condition.
Doctors have been closely watching the 10-month-old twins for any complications since they were separated in the operation on Tuesday.
Hospital director Osvaldo Artaza describes the condition of the girls as critical and said that one of the two is at risk of dying.
He said Friday that little Maria Jose has suffered heart-related complications that are forcing doctors to take special steps to try to save her.
A surgeon on Friday performed a follow-up operation on the girls to change meshing that had been used to cover part of the twins' body cavities after the surgery.
