Clearing spam eats up time

Singapore - Most internet users in Singapore spend about 10 minutes a day clearing away unsolicited e-mail, or spam, a survey showed on Wednesday.
Nearly 80% of the 500 internet users queried by Forbes Research said spam eats up 10 minutes a day, and few thought the volume was going to decrease.
Filters at the corporate level appear to work better than elsewhere, according to the survey, which was commissioned by Symantec, an internet security company.
The majority, or 278 respondents, said they received more unsolicited e-mail in their home accounts than office accounts.
There are no specific anti-spam laws in Singapore, but the state is looking into anti-spam measures. The bulk of the spam originates in the United States. - Sapa-DPA
