Durban - Four KwaZulu Natal men - who used stolen ATM cards to set up fictitious accounts on the internet - were arrested on Tuesday, Durban police say.
Police were acting on information received from the public about internet fraud, said Bala Naidoo, Durban Central police station commissioner.
The four were arrested at a Durban central address and 36 stolen ATM cards, computer equipment, passports and identity documents were seized.
It is believed that the four were using these documents to open up accounts on the internet.
"A team of experts from Pretoria will be analysing the computers so we can find out more. We will be working with banks to crack down on this type of crime," Naidoo said.
The men were expected to appear in the Durban Magistrate's Court on Thursday.
