Drones coming to a sky near you

2012-04-01 18:30

Berkeley - Drones are the signature weapon of US wars in the 21st century. Just as Humvees became a presence on US highways in the 1990s after the first war with Iraq, interest in non-military uses of drones from policing to farming is rising.

Thousands of hobbyists are taking part in what has become a global do-it-yourself drone subculture.

The pastime is thriving as the Federal Aviation Administration seeks to make the skies friendlier to unmanned aircraft of all sizes.

The use of drones in the US by law enforcement and other government agencies has privacy advocates on edge.

Meanwhile, hobbyists say the cost of flying their own drones has fallen sharply due to the popularity of smartphones, which use the same kinds of chips needed by drone autopilot systems.

Do I have the right to shoot one out of the sky if it's over my land? I don't like the idea of some chump seeing me and my wife walking around naked in our back yard, so yup, I'll happily use them as target practice.

The air the drone flies in? That will not be your air space. No shooting down of any drones my friend.

I would think its trespassing. Shoot it down! Or get some sort of signal jammer and watch it fall like a rock.

I assure you, we don't want to see you naked either.

Would be awsome if the CPF can get hold of one, would be nice to catch the tsotsies jumping over our walls and breaking into our houses, cause the Wierdabrug police are useless!!!
