Gladiator school found near Vienna
Vienna - Archaeologists have discovered the ruins of a gladiator training school at the Roman site of Carnuntum outside Vienna, the park announced on Tuesday.
The detail of the structure was similar to that of the Colosseum and the gladiatorial training school Ludus Magnus in Rome, the archaeological park said in a statement.
However, the size of the ruin and its well-preserved state made it "a worldwide unique" site, they insisted.
An international team of archaeologists uncovered the gladiator school using ground penetrating radar equipment, after which it was dug up, the statement noted.
