Mom killed over 'triplets'

Lagos - Nigerian police said on Wednesday that they are searching for a man who they believe killed his wife for giving birth to triplets.
A police officer said: "The man became very unhappy because his wife had triplets, and in the course of time beat her to death."
He said the suspected murderer, Ikechukwu Eze, had absconded after his wife's death was announced.
The couple already had twins, and when Eze's wife gave birth to triplets on July 05 he became distressed and took to drinking heavily.
Witnesses said he came home drunk on July 11 and beat up his wife, while his own mother lost a tooth when she tried to intervene.
The wife later died in the hospital, while the triplets had been taken to an orphanage in Lagos.
