Johannesburg - A piece of rock from the moon will be on display at the Maropeng Cradle of Humankind Centre near Krugersdorp, west of Johannesburg, SABC radio news reports.
The piece of lunar rock, on loan from Nasa, the National Aeronautics and Space Administration, was brought back to Earth by the crew of the 1972 mission Apollo 17, the last men to walk on the moon.
The moon rock goes back some 3.75 billion years.
This predates 99.9% of all rock on the surface of the Earth.
It is also considerably older than some of the dinosaur fossils also on display.
