New player in SA Telecoms

Cape Town - A new company has thrown its hat into the telecoms ring by announcing its entry into the sector.
Backed by former Absa CEO Steve Booysen and Dark Fibre Africa co-founder Malcolm Kirby, the new company, Metrofibre Networx, is in the final stages of fundraising, according to website TechCentral.
Instead of focusing on the big players in the industry, the company is reportedly targeting smaller enterprises, but not, for the moment private homes.
On its website, the company says it has two products, E-Line and E-Lan.
A new entrant to the telecoms sector would be welcomed, particular by the several internet users who feel that broadband connectivity in SA is prohibitively expensive and would like Telkom to separate the line and service rental.
Consumer website HelloPeter.com has several reports of frustrated broadband users.
"Telkom, stop boasting about your 'next generation' lines, when you can't even provide a basic ADSL service," wrote a user called thehough.
"I have not had proper international bandwidth for a significant part of the month but this does not seem to bother MWEB. They have clearly become too big for their own good," wrote colinvz.
"One of our technical specialists will be contacting you shortly to gather more information from you," MWEB technical staff responded.
