Sao Paolo - A Brazilian judge on Wednesday ordered the withdrawal of footage from a documentary about football legend Pele from the website YouTube.
Brazilian news site G1 said the order followed a complaint by the company Anima Producciones Culturales, which holds the rights to distribute the film Pele Eterno (Pele Forever).
The sentence coincides with Viacom's announcement of a billion-dollar lawsuit against the Google-owned YouTube, claiming it has repeatedly violated copyright laws.
The Brazilian case is more modest. If YouTube continues to show footage - including a large number of Pele's more than 1 200 goals - it would have to pay just under $50 000, G1 reported.
The film's director Anibal Massaini celebrated the court decision and said over one million people have so far watched the scenes on YouTube. - Sapa-dpa
