Red Bull to sell smart Cell C deals
Cape Town - Cell C has partnered with energy drink Red Bull to provide cellphone contract packages.
Red Bull hopes to extend its brand identity through the partnership with Cell C in providing a range of content to customers who take out the contract.
"Red Bull MOBILE is an innovative mobile offering, powered by Cell C's new generation, superfast HSPA+ 900/2100 network and access to premium Red Bull content on a customised smartphone," Red Bull said in a statement.
The partnership with Cell C is of strategic importance because the network doesn't have the clout of Vodacom and MTN in SA and may go some way to restore some credibility lost in the "4G" ad campaign over which the company was censured by the Advertising Standards Authority.
Of interest is the offer of Android smartphones and this move is part of the international trend of the growth of these kinds of devices.
Customers will have access to regular news and entertainment content for a monthly subscription of R149 over 24 months.
