Revamped PSP gets launch date

Tokyo - Sony Corp said on Tuesday that the new, slimmer version of the PlayStation Portable handheld video game console would go on sale in Japan from September 20.

Sony Computer Entertainment Inc said that the PSP-2000 would have a recommended price tag of 19 800 yen and come in six colours.

The revamped PSP, which was unveiled at the E3 industry conference in California last week, is said to be a third lighter than its predecessor, 19% slimmer and to offer improved battery life and video display.
