UK cops hold Team Poison hacking suspect

London - Britain's Police Central eCrime Unit has arrested a 17-year-old suspected of being part of the Team Poison hacking group.

Police said Thursday the group has claimed responsibility for more than 1 400 cyber-related offenses.

The suspect has not been identified. Police say his computer equipment has been seized for a detailed forensic examination.

The teenager from Newcastle in northern England has been charged with violation of the Computer Misuse Act.

Police say he is alleged to be a spokesperson for Team Poison.

The group has claimed responsibility for numerous denial of service attacks and network intrusions including one last fall on the United Nations.
