Open letter to News24 Commentators

You people are the most frightening people are I have ever met in my life…This forum is so full of anger expression. Sometimes I ask myself how far you’re willing to take it. Like seriously???

I have never seen any forum where people are called names like this one…The word “Idiot” is probably one of the most used word on this forum and I don’t think people understand its connotation.  If you’re that clever; why don’t you inscribe an article of your own? Most people who say these things hardly write an article on this forum but their comments are so troubling.

Is it because you’re scared of your ‘own kid’ criticism? For instance,   you’re scared to be called “You’re dumber than the mud”, “You been listening to Malema or smoking the good stuff, bro?”, “Maybe Jeff Dunham should put this fool on a stick...” I can go on until I reach 100 pages. You people hate each other for no apparent valid reason. How does hating someone you don’t even know benefit you?

You need to control your anger or attend anger management classes; they were made for a reason. This forum is not a platform for such consequently, it was not created for you to express your anger, share your views in a rational sense not in this barbaric way you’re currently practicing (Not all of you but most of you).

I use to think that these people are just trolls but I have realised that this is actually who they are.

Write an article here supporting Zuma or the ANC and see what people will say to you… [You will be sorry]. People hate the President so much; I don’t think they perceive him as human anymore. I have written articles against some ANC Policies, Acts and corruption myself but never did I dehumanize him.

I don’t agree with the most things they do but that does not give me a motive to express my anger on this forum. There are proper channels to be followed if you want to have a say.

Attacking your fellow writer will not remove the ANC from power.

What I find funnier is how bias people get towards the DA. There is nothing wrong in supporting the DA. It is your democratic right and you should support whoever you want but you should not dehumanize those who support the other parties.

You can write articles about ANC poor service delivery which is so visible but also do try to write about DA failing to deliver to Khayelitsha people. I have lived in Cape Town for the past 4 years and when I travel to the Airport, you see Khayelitsha on the other side with so many shacks.

In my life, I have never seen so many shacks in that condition. I come from Mpumalanga, we are not a good province ourselves but I have never seen so many shacks in Mpumalanga and the conditions of those shacks are worse than anything. I could n’t believe that some sleep in that small “house” in this Cape Town weather. Yes, the ANC is not better in fact it is far worse.

Lastly, the most disturbing aspects were the racial remarks that seem to be frequently articulated through out the forum. I always wonder how the world would be like if we were colour blind. I always wonder how things would be like if we could stop seeing people skin first before anything.

I always wonder why people blame people for how they look like as if the choose to be the way they are.

This forum is so racialized, constantly people express their racist remarks through this forum and what I don’t understand is how they benefit through those acts. I have came to the conclusion that some of this people don’t even understand the connotation of the term “racist” but they constantly throw it.

The derogatory and defamatory terms or phrase are so dominant in this forum.

Why do hate others so much?  Why are you angry?

I myself, I am not expecting thumbs up…I am not always right but I would expect people to be rational and it is always shockingly shocking to see people treat others as animals etc…
