Moz starts voter registration
Maputo - Mozambique's election technical body (STAE) estimates it will register more than 50 000 Mozambicans living in various African and European countries for its general elections, according to a report on Friday.
Voter registration for Mozambicans living in South Africa, Zambia, Zimbabwe, Malawi, Swaziland, Tanzania, Portugal and Germany began on Friday, daily independent O Pais reported citing STAE's director general Felisberto Naife.
The process, which would last 20 days, had a budget of $400 000 and 284 people had been contracted to carry out the exercise, said the paper.
Naife also told the paper that by Thursday this week, STAE had registered 140 000 voters.
Registration ends on July 29.
